With deep roots in agriculture, Dr. David Gardner is one of four children born to Nelson and Nancy Gardner in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Rocby Holsteins owned by David's family, raised poultry and Registered Holstein Dairy cattle. David was deeply influenced by his parents, who believed in entrepreneurship, hard work, treating people fairly, and chasing your dreams and passions. David married Ann in 1985. Ann graduated with a BS in Biology from Virginia Tech and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia- Maryland regional College of Veterinary Medicine. They have three children: Trevor , Sidney, and Tucker.

When David and Ann moved back to Weyers Cave in 1985, they purchased Maple Lane Farm, a 220 acre farm. They continue to operate Maple Lane Farm as a working farm producing high quality hay for the horse and livestock industry. Maple Lane Veterinary Clinic was established in 1985  and they continue to operate Maple Lane Veterinary Clinic as a companion animal veterinary hospital and boarding facility today.

Valley Pike Farm Market is run by a small team comprised of several section managers over each of the different shops within the barn.  We also have an events and marketing staff member who over sees the reservations for the Granary.
